·         If there is an author listed look for a biography that discusses the authors education profession and other relevant background. If there is no bio on the site search for one elsewhere on the web.

·         Check the date facts can change over time so see if the site shows when it was updated.

·         Presentation counts look at everything from design to spelling. A clean well organized site shows a certain degree of professionalism.

·         Avoid sites that are pornographic, vulgar, inappropriate, below par, suggestive, and flashing.

Using the web wisely

Thanks to the web information is easy to find. However it’s also easy to post something online. Anyone can do it. You’ve probably used the internet to do research for a paper to hell [you decide which product to buy or to from an opinion about current events. Looking up information online is fast and convened. But when you do online research it’s important to find sites you can trust. Many websites claim to have the facts but are full of errors. Others present information in a biased way the only give one side of an argument. How can you tell a reliable spruce from an opinion about current events? One approach that has been proven effective is called the Cornell not taking system. Here are some of its methods. Start by using the main section of your page to take down your notes during class. Be sure to leave space on the left side of the page and the bottom. Things to keep in mind:

1.       Get the speakers main point. Don’t write down every word you hear.

2.       Leave blanks in your notes to add explanations later.

3.       Organize as you write. Pay attention to cues such as repetition and emphasis.

4.       Indicate main and supporting points as you go.

5.       Jot down key vocabulary, important facts and formulas.

Ask questions if you’re confused it’s better to ask while the material is fresh in your mind.

That’s a plus because the focus on the written word gives you the opportunity to develop as a writer and strong writing skills are essential to academics success. However if writing is serious weakness for you virtual learning may not be the best educational option until you imporveyour skills. Yes most distance education is the written word therefore you need to be a good reader love to read and love writing also. Most of your assignments will be written and submitted to the instructor in the written format. Your penmanship need to be excellent spelling great sentence structure above average vocabulary extraordinary. You need to have online access with reliable equipment. If your internet communications at home isn’t working you can’t do online education from home and will need Togo to someplace where you do have access to the internet.

Distance education isn’t for everyone but it just might be for you. You really should seek it out and give it a try. You never know until you try. You might even fall in love with distance education. Lack in person interaction: some educators argue that both teacher students and students contact are essential to learning. In a distance learning classroom you may be able to participate in class discussions online in chat room, message boards or web conferences but it’s not the same as being with other students in a class room

Different levels of quality: Much distance education programs supply an excellent learning experience but others may not research any program before signing on to make sure is rigorous enough. If you are choosing your own program it’s rigorous enough. If you are choosing your own program, look into its accreditation before enrolling.

The need to self-start distance education lets you make your own schedules if you have a hard time getting motivated this might not be the ideal educational setting for you

Because distance education lets you take everything you want. Because distance education lets you take classes outside regular school hours, it gives you the flexibility to explore all your Ares of interest

·         Advanced and specialized classes. Some schools can’t provide advanced or special classes. Distance education gives you the chance to gain experience in areas that would otherwise remain out reach.
